Is it time for some Assess Critter love?

I have been pretty upset with the Lense for quite some time now. Back when it first came out it was great and wonderful, but there has been so much stuff added or re-balanced since then, that I can honestly say that it's starting to slip in "usefulness".

My main problems are the stats and to some extent, even the spellcraft.

Base 0% Mana C mod - this needs to be changed to AT LEAST 1% to allow Mystics to work. I see no legitimate reason for this to have 0%, I wonder why they even bothered listing that at all?

Melee D - +20 is old school, +20 has been max base for eons, light years and ages, it's high time this was improved, not only on these lenses, but for all casters - quest, crafted or looted. I can find a stick with +25% Melee D, there should be no reason I can't find a magical caster also... Especially when new stuff keeps getting tougher and tougher while our old caps stay the same.

Spellcraft - 520 seems like a high number. Truth be told, when these Lenses came out 4-5 years ago, it was a high number. In fact, it used to be da shiz back then. Now I am having to cast 3-5 times just to land on a neftet mob. It's not ALL the time, no, but this is happening too much imo.

SOLUTIONS


Tinkering - The best all inclusive fix, imo, would simply be to add 10 -20 more spellcraft, then allow these Lenses to be tinkered like loot gen items. I will go a step further and say that logic also dictates that since I did in fact make this item with my hands (I should know everything about it, as well as how to improve it), that I should be able to tinker this craftable item MUCH easier and faster then something from the loot gen that I am not as familiar with. Also, I understand the hard caps and no tink rules for quest weapons and rewards, but this is NOT a quest item.

Imbuing - Allow access to vulns at the cost of having to switch out different lenses and weapons in combat... (which is complete ass btw, so may as well get something out of it...:p).

Example - Incomparable Lense + Salvaged Emerald = Incomparable Acidic Lense @ a normal 35-38% chance of landing. This Lense would cast Expose Elemental Weakness instead of Expose Weakness...in other words, it would cast Acid Vuln Other instead of Imperil Other. Rinse & repeat for slash, fire, etc etc.

This would do many things for AC imo, it would introduce more Tinkering for one, it would also provide a great, (dare I say needed?) set of tools for non magical toons as well as allowing melee/archer to get away from 100% rends, 100% of the time, opening up a lot more use for AR, CS and CB.

I also don't think any of this would require "much" work, or any new content or coding as all this tech exists already.
