I pulled this from another thread because I was truly very curios to see how other people view this upcoming change. I for one am not thrilled. At all.
As a prolific leader of quests why would I ever now run any quest that takes over 30 minutes, when I can just farm the same ones back to back to back each day?
I find it HILARIOUS the number of threads where devs posted "maxing out lum was never an intention of ours" and a flat REFUSAL to increase the lum XP rewards on quests. So what do they do a few months down the road? Make it so you can literally just farm out a handful of quests each day.
How did that work out with those society quests by the way? People REALLLLLLY seem to enjoy repeating those every 3 days. Lots of fun to be had there.
This whole mechanic is ridiculous. If you had wanted to provide an incentive to do a WIDE variety of quests, the solution had already been suggested time and time and time again. JACK UP THE REWARDS!! Want to make questing as competitive as hunting? Want to help the casual player? Simply keep the timers or make the max timer 13 days, and double the pulls/lum from every single quest. Boy, that was difficult.
You would a: give questers/causal players a significant boost via quests, and b: create an incentive to do ALL quests, not just repeat a handful of 30 minute quests every single day. I do hope you realize that with this new design, if a quest takes over 20 minutes its generally going to be viewed as a waste of time unless it gives very very good rewards right?
Lets look at some quests that are either soloable, or doable with 2-4 players in under 20 minutes:
Uziz Liberation - LDK/Lum
Hermits Death Wish - Lum
Apostate Citadel - Lum
Apostate Excavation - Lum
Snow tusker Tusk - LDK/Lum
Prodigal Banderling - Lum
Prodigal Lugian - Lum
Dream Reaver Investigation - LDK/Lum
Releasing the Light - LDK/Lum
Count Phainors Amulet - LDK/lum
Bulb of Harvests - LDK/Lum
Claudes Mind - Lum
Nexus Mask - Lum
Ithanec Quiddity Seed - Lum
Dark Bobo - Lum
Saving Mouf P - LDK/lum
Janthefs Release - LDK/lum
Purge the Corruption - LDK/Lum
Deewain - LDK/Lum
You could even go ahead and add the 2 olthoi pincers, and a handful of other quests to this list probably along with saving asheron and bloodstone investigation. So given that, why would a player EVER waste their time with things like Prodigal Shadow, Hoshino Must Die, Empyrean Rescue, Hive Queen Assault, Hoshino Infiltration or any other BIG quest? Youve done nothing to make quests that take real time/effort appealing at ALL.
I for 1 plan to be thoroughly bored with these quests rather quickly, and genuinely hope that Im wrong and that people still want to spend time doing long quest for sub-par lum/effort ratios. I sincerely doubt it though.
