I've returned after a few years to Asheron's Call, and have been playing a few monthes and though I would ask/comment on a few things.
But I have a little bit of a concern, first and foremost the lag, I remember playing this game on dial up and having less rubber band hehe, I've looked through threads, ported, firewalled, put AC in seperate directory from windows ( Win7 ), but I'm still experiencing tremendous and tedious rubber bands and disconnects for no apparent reason. I read the thread about Severlin saying they changed somethings in the last network patch, and now alot of people are saying that is the direct causation, is there any official word on when this will be fixed?
Second of all, I play three different servers, LC, FF, and DT.
On LC and FF I've noticed I get much less lag when PK ( light now.. ) when I'm at Marketplace, but horrendous lag in areas like allegiance mansions and houses. ( My computer is fairly decent ).
This goes for players who do not PK aswell, and are just hunting, the rubber banding, as stated in other threads, is causing players to pull massive amounts of mobs for no apparent reason, combined with some areas have excessive ( in my opinion ) amounts of monsters and high spawn density.
On DT.. I understand now that you've consolidated the player base into Arwic and a few other areas, which is a good thing, since the population is a bit a smaller. I did a little talking with some people I've met so far, and it seems like DT does have a wee bit of a problem...
For top end players, aka in a Legendary suit, with a decent PVP weapon, with some luminance augmentations, there is still a great gap, where we have allegiances like Underworld Dreams, who mop the floor with the player base that is still getting on par, they have max rating Armor/Double legendaries and Max AL, Rare weapons and and 'infinite' supply of rare skill/attribute boosters, meats, and kits.
I propose that we separate these Capped people, from the Building people.
Just my 2 cents, sorry for rambling.
- I really enjoy how it's now easier to group up and quest with people, without worrying about month long timers.
- I also really like what you've done with the default UI. ( Is there a way to use the old skins still, where you could build your own in paint? Just for nostalgia. )
- I like how it's a little bit like the old days where you could start up a character a level for a few weeks, get a few quests items and be up to par ( ie Lvl 30-40, Focus stone, Shadow armor, atlans ), I'm liking the new explorer equipment and the hub facility, and the ability to get Epic set without 24/7 macro'ing, and Legendary cantrips seem like they drop at a good rate aswell for both hunting and chesting.

- I see a simple solution to this, that would be implementable and fun on both White and Red worlds.
- Keep everything how it is right now content wise ok, I do not want to remove Arwic chests, I want to state this clearly.
- But instead, as I've seen other players post, add T8 mobs to Abandoned Mines ( get it, abandoned..), and put above average legendary key chests inside of this dungeon.
- This makes it so players Building, can have fair loot, and get competitive in Arwic.
- And Capped ( ratings/legends/AL/Luminance ) players are more encouraged to go into Abandoned Mines, for a smaller ( but worth it ) chance of gettings better loot.
- This keeps sub uber, in normal hunting zones, arwic, etc, giving them a chance. - and moves capped out players into the mines, where they can have deadly, decisive fights, and reason to attempt control of an area.
- This is alot more encouraging, then have sub uber players, creating Level 1 newbies, just so they can loot chests - instead keep sub uber players fighting a more even fight in Arwic, and getting gear/experience for moving into the mines
- A dungeon also means that regular players have a way greater chance of taking down these ' uber ' players, if they are in tight corridors, no spinning, less war control, random monsters to get caught on, ect.
