Hello all,
Like many others, I was ecstatic to find out about AC2 being brought back online and, for a short time, that sense of "old-school" camaraderie and community was there - just as I remembered it. It was heartening to say the least.
It seemed short-lived, though, as the "modern MMO gamer" mindset quickly took root, and people seemed to settle into their own little groups/cliques and started charging ahead in full-on power-level, "gotta get to the end ASAP!" mode... something I was hoping this game would be spared from. But, I guess people have just become too used to the "go go go go!" pacing of newer MMOs.
In any case, I ended up being left behind and was unable to get anything completed as anything I was looking to do (quests, vaults, etc) pretty much everyone had already blown past. I was barely even halfway through Osteth, and people were already charging through the content of Omishan. Asking for help in chat channels or even in my own guild did little good. People were too much into racing through the game to take any time to help anyone else out.
"Keep up or be left behind" seems to have quickly become the new motto for AC2 Reborn.
So, I left the game in disappointment, thinking maybe I'd come back once the initial wave of people came and left, leaving behind the people who - hopefully - were more into it for the long haul, didn't have that "go go go!" mindset and were more into the community element.
So... I'm wondering, now about a year since its relaunch... has that been the case? Have people mostly settled down, etc?
Or is it the same mad dash for level cap/end game that it was when I last left?
I'd love to come back, but not to find the same kind of experience...
Thanks.
