I see a lot of grumblings around here about the news on free to play, so I thought I might post this to offer a different perspective. You see this isn't the first time I've gone through this with a game I was passionate about from the same generation as AC. And while nobody was thrilled with seeing private servers, a crap ton of great things happened that were totally unexpected!! People created servers specific to eras in the game. So those that appreciated what the vanilla game was before all the years of expansions, they could enjoy that core content and do it for free! Things took a *slightly different direction even on the official servers, but it also encouraged new people to try the game out that might not have otherwise. In the end, the population erupted and continues to flourish today.
For a game to last as long as this one has, and the fact that an emu was *almost created with zero help from Turbine. I have all the confidence in the world that this thing is going to take off in directions nobody dreamed of!
