I've been on a long hiatus, getting through college and finding my place in the real world. I've settled down to a point where I have a regular schedule and a decent amount of time again to dedicate to an MMORPG. I decided I would go back to my roots and see how Asheron's Call looks after 6+ years of updates since I last checked.
What I've noticed is this: There's all these new gameplay options and some small tweaks that made some sense, but the real issues are still being ignored.
Major:
* UCM. (10+ years of UCMing hasn't ruined the game yet (nor has the war on macro really had any success). Can we get this out of the CoC now?)
* Safe zones in your 'harsh existence sandbox' PvP world. (I remember defending Kara and Ayan; now we just battle over who gets to macro where for the next couple hours. Towns were owned for weeks/months. And felt much more like home than my mansion ever will.)
Minor:
* Rewards for macroing far outweigh rewards for questing. (Meh.. I guess that's just AC. That's fine, let's not change the game completely. But take a look at lums.)
* Lack of pve server transfer options and other similar services common to modern MMORPGs
* Graphics
* Marketing
That was a little disheartening. I understand that the devs have their own vision, but at least help us to better understand it and be a part of this world we've come to know and love.
Thanks,
Beecher
