Loved AC2, and resubbed for a month just to take a peek and reminisce. It's really amazing how well the game looks graphics-wise considering its age. It looks so good in fact that I was thinking about trying to talk a few of my friends into checking it out.
That is until I started trying to relearn the interface. There have been a lot of advances and unifying of ideas and mechanics over the last 11 years when it comes to user interface.
I would absolutely love to play this with some of my friends, but many of them have never experienced the stone age of MMOs with clunky UIs and lack of modern conveniences. I have a pretty open mind, and of course cut my teeth on games with no UIs back in the day but I have to admit over the last few years even I've become spoiled and found it hard to swallow what AC2 has currently.
Are there any plans to modernise the interface? Movable windows, typical key bindings, typical left, right, double click behaviors, scrolling inventory, item stacking, sorting, information on mouse hover, etc...
If it was F2P it would be an easy sell to get people to check it out and maybe even get around the UI. There are just too many good games now-a-days that are F2P to get people to take a risk on subscriptions, especial on old games (even ones that look as nice as this one!). Not that I'm suggesting this goes F2P (although I wouldn't complain!).
