Luminance Recommendation

Why do I lose all my luminance if I want to respec my specialized luminance? In AC2 You can respec without losing your xp, it just costs xp gained and you get the xp gained plus the xp in the skill.

If there has to be a penalty... why is it so extreme that I will lose 4.5mil lum xp? That crazy and with the changes you have made this patch is has made it necessary to go +2 skills per lum token. When you make changes like this, its unfair to create a desired template, especially for pvp and pve alike.

What do you guys think?

Where is Everyone?

So I was a little late coming back to this game (I didn't find out till over a month after it was released), so it seems that I've missed the biggest rush of people who group quest.

I managed to hit level 36 right before there weren't enough people on (any time) to fill any groups or do any quests. I looked up solo-quests I could do on ACVault, but literally all but one wasn't solo-able. I'm at this odd point where I can't group because there aren't enough player but the game, especially at this level, revolves around grouping.

So here's an idea for the future:

Quests need to have level-appropriate mobs and give level-appropriate xp. The xp needs to be able to compete with, on some level, group farming mobs. As it stands, unless you're select classes, soloing in this game to level is not only horribly innefecient, it's almost impossible with the quests that are given to us.

For an example: level 31 quest to go kill a gurgog and then a burun immortal. Simple enough... except the gurog and burun are all mid-high 40s. Adjust the levels accordingly so that solo quests are actually soloable. I can't even finish that quest at level 36 as a CB and it's labeled for level 31. Not 31+.

I love this game and had a level 75 and 66 back in the day, but there simply aren't enough players to sustain a group-only MMO. There needs to be much more and more rewarding solo content.

Strafe key not working

Anyone ever have this problem? I only have it randomly with my Z key. It can type just fine but I can not strafe left with it. I have to close out game and reload.

Revisit quests that are in Tier 8 hunting areas.

Was trying to think of quests or weapons that could stand to be upgraded after the rebalance and loot upgrade, here's a few...

Graveyard Colo (Lord Mhoire Quest) - Literally every creature you have to kill is now tier 8, Lord M could stand to have his loot on par with Pyre Champions and the chest in there should at least be tier 7 if not tier 8... It would even be a bonus for the Yellow coin to give a legendary key now (I'd understand it not giving one, but it'd be a bonus)

Soulbound/Ghost Slayer weapons - The two forms of Ghost Slayer weapons we have come from tier 8 hunting grounds and recent quests have involved quite a few ensorcelled weapons, so it might be time to revisit/provide an upgrade for either the SB or Hoshino ghost slaying weapons (if you don't improve both, then at least complete the Hoshino set with missile weapons and magic casters)

Shadow Communication/Shadow Slayer weapons - These would be nice for tou-tou and the Shadow Communication line is very underutilized, and will be worse now that players will only get MFK loot and luminance from them. Why not make this line repeatable and drop parts to an upgrade gem for the Shadowfire weapons or at least have the repeatable quest at the end drop a gem for an upgrade to them. This would improve our effectiveness at tou-tou on tier 8 Shadows.

Bloodstone Investigation - Ok, not tier 8 creatures or tier 8 hunting area, but arguably would be much harder now that Gurogs have become harder so I figured I'd include it last just to see what people thought, I honestly don't know how I'd improve the wands. Maybe an upgrade to the wand or just give people the option of turning the wand back in for a castable version of the bloodstone bolt just for giggles.

Had a big long grip typed out. 403 ate it. I'm even more annoyed now lol.

Maybe the 403 is to weed out complaints.

Anyway, the main grip (besides the level req, 50k health on boss, 3 rock sections), is that the mukkir at the bottom hit entirely too hard. Can't touch them on a lvl 95 melee and they were hitting for 60s through the shield and I had full level 7 buffs/banes.

Hello again!

I am lev170 now yay! I leveled this far with magic d and war spec. With item, manac, creature, sneak and deception trained. 10 100 10 10 100 100.

KEEP IN MIND i do not have good gear, i am using a relic armor suit that i will upgrade at 180. I do NOT have the money or gear to spec MeleeD and have it buffed to a usable range.

My main focus is survival, not damage output.

I want to hunt DI and then neftet or something else 200+ at some point. Should i keep MagicD spec and spec life for vulns? (lev8 vulns hurt more than rended wands) or spec critter for debuffs?
Drop MagicD and spec both creature and life?

Help!

EDIT: What set type should i seek to acquire as a war mage? Survival.

Need help with a Facility Hub quest? I'm putting up at least 1 new video per day

Hello. Recently coming back to Asheron's Call after being away for a loooong time.. I decided to make my own videos of my experience rolling a new toon on the Darktide server.

I show everything from how to sell loot to how to buy spells and components.

But most of my videos are made with my new war mage after learning the best path through the Facility Hub quests with my light weapon warrior (also new after many years away from AC).

I've also came up with a quick way to find the exact video help new players might need to get past that tricky turn or locked chest in a particular dungeon in the Facility Hub.

Simply type my YouTube user name 'Zaxtor99' followed by a space and then the the number of the level area and then the letter R for the Right warden as you come in, the letter C for the Center warden as you come in, and the letter L for the Left warden as you come into a specific area. So for example as you go into the Level 10 Facility Hub room, if you want help with the quest on the Left side, simple follow my YouTube user name with the code 10L. (Zaxtor99 10L).

I do not profit off of my YouTube videos and nor will I EVER try to make money off of my YouTube videos. I am simply making them because I have a huge passion for Asheron's Call, firmly believe it is the best mmorpg EVER made, and would love to help newcomers feel welcome and assisted in this world that might feel like it has a very steep learning curve compared to newer, shinier mmo games today. (ie AC doesn't have gold explanation points above npc heads like they might be used to, hehe)

Anyhow.. please check my videos out, especially if you are new to Asheron's Call or if you are thinking about coming back to AC after many years away like myself. -Or maybe you are considering Asheron's Call and have never tried it!

Currently, I have made assistance videos with making a new character and the first steps and every facility hub quest through the level 15 room. I plan on putting up at least one new video per day until I complete all quests in the Facility Hub, but this may start getting more difficult as the quests become increasingly difficult. However, if my videos help to bring in only a few new players to the world of Dereth, or just help somebody have a better experience while playing now.. then my time has been well spent.

To view all of my videos at the time you might be reading this post, simply type 'Return to Asheron's Call' into the YouTube search bar. To help ensure you only get my videos listed first, you could also add my user name 'Zaxtor99' to the end of that search as well.

Is it supposed to be near impossible to hunt in tier 8 areas?

It's ridiculous to even hunt there because it takes so much time to kill just one critter :(

It's funny too, because my archer with max everything (100/10 focus self innate) has no problem vulning. Why can't a full blown -mage-land more often?


If you are wondering, I tried using futility first and got the same result as above.

Luminance Flagging Quest Since Patch... Too Difficult?

I am getting hit for 85-150 a shot from the gurogs in the first room of the dungeon, and have actually been 1 hit... I am a lvl 212 archer with full tinked armor, epic wards and some legendary wards. I have max melee d and do not evade, even with a +50% md bow. Please fix this so I can start earning Luminance! This creatures in this quest should not be harder than the guys at Neftet IMO, and I can do fine there.

Note to Devs - AC2 needs easier & higher xp Solo content

After leveling 4 heroes, the biggest problem with AC2 is your solo content....this games solo content is way to hard for the minimal rewards. I remember back when soloing was actually very fun, before someone had the bright idea of forced grouping that basically destroyed any reason to even attempt to solo due to the difficulty of killing solo mobs with almost no reward.

With that being said, i would imagine its very difficult and frustrating for players who just want to log on and solo quests & mobs and get good xp/rewards. I have seen many people once again stop playing due to this issue 10 years later.

So my advise if you want to make this game more suited for more players is you just need to make solo content way easier and give way more xp, like how it was on its original release.

Are there any plans to add more items to the society vendors. At this point the only item I even bother buying are the level 8 dispel gems. I'm not sure exactly what things could work, but luminance gems provided they are at a cost worth buying (probably not though) and legendary keys.

For the first time in AC's loot history, the newest tier of loot is surpassed by the previous one except in a rare case. Unless the legendary item is on a set it is surpassed by an epic set item.

Last week I recovered most of the files from my college and 1st job hard drives. Digging through the drives, I found a ton of old AC1 pics:

Amid's Farewell speech to the guild.
Masonry abandoning his mansion - and me purchasing it on my archer: Falling Star
My first Lady kill on my Mage: Giliad.
Running a jumping dungeon with Icedancer and a full fellowship
Tons of screen captures as my toons as they leveled.
Buying my 1st cottage.
Giving Bob the Vagabond flasks. (or, in Bob speak: Non-Bob gives shineys to Bob.) yes kids, he was a template vagabond from release. Had the title to prove it. ;)
Clearing Crater from the firestorm and friends
Pre Virindi Caul visit
Running on DT as a less than level 20 Blood.
Hanging with my vassals:
Yaskawa, Vladimir Drake, Alan the Fidgety (& his other toons), & many others.

Ah the memories.

In the process of account recovery as my AC email account has long been deleted. (no no, THANK YOU M$...) created this account as a temporary. Ticket filed last Wednesday night.

So.... Glad I maxed coordination BEFORE bow, way back when. :) Don't worry, I read the wiki about the skill changes. Everyone getting Arcane Lore for free is Crap! Back in my day....

Ok. Time to give this new AC a try. ;)

Recommendations for solo (Mage) Hoshino hunting?

Was very excited to try the new hunting ground after a few coord Augs and and a new md wand.

The fighting is challenging but not impossible.

But there appears to be a rather aggressive perimeter in effect ala Neftet and Tou Tou.

Looking for tips on any locations I can get and hold in the kill zone.

windows 8 and fatal directx issue while attemping to start. plz help

I just got a new computer with radeon hd 7570 graphics card and 6 core processor etc.....I downloaded the game and when I go to log on to thistledown I get this error report : the game encountered a fatal directx issue while attemping to start try a different resoulution or bit depth. if that doesn't help try new video drivers. I also have a led monitor hooked up with a hd cord dunno if that has anything to do with it or not since im not usen the VGA cord. im paying for this game and cant even play it I was playing on a laptop that broke so I just got a new comp. can anyone help me plz
